No polls without identity cards, says Jag Parvesh

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, May 19: Leader of the Opposition Jag Parvesh Chandra today demanded that the elections to the Delhi Assembly in November should be held on the basis of identity cards in order to eliminate bogus voting.

According to him, this would reverse the present party strength of the BJP and Congress in the Assembly. After five years of the misrule, life for Delhiites has become a punishment rather than a pleasure, he said.

He was speaking at the national camp of the Seva Dals volunteers from Delhi, Haryana, UP and MP.

For dealing with the basic strategy of electioneering, Chandra said the advance planning for a hard-hitting campaign was the key to success in the electoral battle.

The campaign should be started from a position of strength because a supporter of the Opposition is more likely to go with you in an area where you are strong than in an area where you are weak.

He also argued that person-to-person canvassing still has its own magic and canvassing is considered as the fine art of electioneering.
