HC stays action against Shahrukh
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
JAIPUR, May 22: The Rajasthan High Court today stayed the criminal proceedings against film star Shahrukh Khan initiated by five lawyers in a court at Kota, with regard to a dialogue uttered by the actor in the film Ramjaane. The dialogue, according to the complainants, derided the lawyers' community. The court had consequently proceeded against Khan under articles 500, 501 and 120-B of the IPC.Jagdeep Dhankar, counsel for Khan, pointed out that the lower court had ignored the decision of the SC in connection with a case pertaining to Raj Kapoor's film Satyam Shivam Sundaram. According to this order, no prosecution was legally sustainable in relation to any dialogue which formed part of a film certified under the Cinematograph Act of 1952.
