SHIMLA, May 22: The three airports in the state at Jubbal Hati, Gagal and Bhuntar are to be extended in the near future to make it possible for a 50-seater aircraft to land there.Financial Commissioner Tourism and Forests Arvind Kaul today told mediapersons that the work to expand the Jubbal Hatti airport has already begun.
Kaul said the Airport Authority of India had already established the technical feasibility of three new airports and Banikhet, Paonta Sahib and Sundernagar. He said Jubbal Hatti airport would be expanded to 4,500 feet.
He said the state government had also identified some areas which would be developed for tourism and the private sector would be invited to developed those to attract the tourists.
The Financial Commissioner Tourism and Forests also disclosed that Railway Authorities had already agreed to start direct train from Bombay to Kalka which would promote the tourist influx to the state.
He said the state government had set up a committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to expedite the land transfer cases for various tourism projects.
