  India can make 200 kt N-bomb: Chidambaram
Atomic Energy Commission Chairman R Chidambaram has said India could produce a nuclear bomb of 200 kilotonne (kt) yield with the country having tested a hydrogen bomb in Pokhran earlier this month. Chidambaram, one of the top scientists involved in the tests, said many other technologies were being developed in the nuclear field which would be of great benefit to India.
  US, India rebuild contacts, promise to keep in touch
The United States and India began the delicate task of reconstructing strained ties with the first official contact between the two sides in the aftermath of last week's nuclear tests. The Indian envoy conveyed to the American side, New Delhi's unilateral decision on adopting a nuclear test moratorium. The two sides also discussed their common desire to keep things from hotting up on the India-Pakistan front.

Nearly seven years after Sikkim's controversial merger with India "Crown Prince" Tobgyal Wangchuk Tenzing Namgyal was anointed the "13th consecrated Chogyal of Sikkim" on February 19, 1982 following the death of his father. He became a king without a kingdom. And now, 16 years later, there is a flicker of hope that he may at last get a price for the lost kingdom.

HC stays action against Shahrukh
The Rajasthan High Court has stayed the criminal proceedings against film star Shahrukh Khan initiated by five lawyers in a court at Kota, with regard to a dialogue uttered by the actor in the film Ramjaane. The dialogue, according to the complainants, derided the lawyers' community.
Plans to save Olive Ridley sea turtles pick up speed
A high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary will be set up to take steps for conservation and protection of endangered sea turtles converging on Gahiramatha beach in Orissa. The 20-km Gahiramatha beach is likely to be be declared a "core area" where poaching and illegal entry of mechanised trawlers would be "strictly prohibited".
