MUMBAI, May 24: Bangladesh have won just one one-day international match in 12 years spanning 25 encounters. However, their performance in the ongoing tri-series which included their first victory over Kenya last week, has drawn praise from the Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin and coach Anshuman Gaekwad.Azharuddin, who had to sit out of two games in the tournament, including tomorrow's match against Bangladesh here, owing to the International Cricket Council's Test captains' meet pointed out that there has been a "lot of improvement" in Bangladesh's displays. "They should keep playing more such matches against stronger teams and should start believing in their abilities," he advised this evening after joining his team-mates in the training session.
Gaekwad, in fact, rated Bangladesh a better team than Kenya. "I feel that they are slightly better off," he opined while speaking to newsmen today.
The former Test opener while commenting on the Indian team's experiments during the ongoing tournament said:"we should be trying out some thing new in such events." The coach and stand-in captain Ajay Jadeja had said two days ago that the team had been fairly successful in their game-plan of attaining the whatever target the opposition had set in 45 overs.
He informed that the final XI for the encounter here would be decided on the morrow.
The Bangladesh team arrived here late in the evening and had to forego their training session.
