NBYS earn first win at Savio Invitational

May 24: Nutan Bharat Yuva Sangh (NBYS), Nagpur scored their first win against Nagpada Neighbourhood House (NNH) in the Pool`A' match of the 6th Savio Invitation Basketball tournament sponsored by Killer Jeans at the Don Bosco School courts, Matunga here today.

In another exciting match yesterday night, Central YMCA got better of NBYS 56-54 and booked a berth for semi-final. Central took lead in the second last minute after trailing at the half-time 35-28.

In the NBYS - NNH encounter, Bhavesh Kunchanwar was the highest scorer for the winner as he notched 16 points while Nilesh Despande could get seven. But for the losers, Rashid Shaikh got eight points.

At half-time, NBYS were leading with scores reading 26-19. Kunchanar and Despande combined well to ensure the first and comfotable win for the Nagpur team.

With a win yesterday night, YMCA ensured a place for the semi-finals. For the winners, Donald D'Sa scored 23 points while Sanju Joseph had 13 against his name. The other notable scorers wereKunchanwar who pocketed 13 and D Sandeep who scored 16 points.
