Delhi power crisis will end in two days: CM

NEW DELHI, May 25: Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma has said that the power crisis in the Capital would end in 48 hours. Speaking soon after a meeting with Union Home Minister L K Advani and Power Minister P Kumaramangalam this evening, he said that the Centre has promised to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of power in the next two days.

Sahib Singh said that against a demand of around 2,4OO MW, today's supply fell short by 300 MW.

The Chief Minister said that he had brought up the issue of pending power projects for the Capital in the meeting. These would add more than 2,300 MW to the supply, he added.

Heat toll 134

NEW DELHI: The blazing sun continued to torment the north, parts of western and southern regions affecting normal life as the heat wave claimed 56 more lives pushing the toll across the country to 134. Rajasthan bore the brunt of the heat spell accounting for 63 deaths followed by Uttar Pradesh 33, Maharashtra 25, Bihar 12 and Tamil Nadu one.
