MELBOURNE, May 25: Former Australian Test batsman Dean Jones announced today he had decided to to retire from cricket.Jones, 37, retired from international cricket four year ago but had kept up playing first class cricket both in England and Australia.
``I just thought I needed a break from cricket and it probably needed a break from me,'' Jones said.
Jones played 52 Tests for Australia, scoring 3,631 runs at an average of 46.55.
His innings included 11 centuries, 14 50s and a highest score of 210 on the 1985-86 tour of India.
Jones also made his mark on the limited overs game, scoring 6,068 runs from 164 matches at an average of 44.61.
He scored seven centuries with the top score of 145.
