``We think this Ordinance should not be rushed through in haste. It requires intensive discussion among all the coalition partners and there is no time for that before the forthcoming Parliament session,'' she told media persons in Chennai on Monday soon after the AIADMK executive committee meeting.

The general perception is that the ordinance would go against the interest of farmers not only in Tamil Nadu but the entire country especially Punjab where electricity and water were provided free Jayalalitha said. A resolution opposing the introduction of the Bill in the Budget session was passed by the AIADMK executive during the meeting. Justifying her party's stand, the AIADMK leader reiterated that the Union Power Ministry had not discussed the Ordinance with the BJP'scoalition partners.``We only know what was published in the media,'' Jayalalitha said, adding that during the May 9 coordination committee meeting held by the BJP in New Delhi, ``the subject was discussed only for a few minutes as there were so many other subjects on the agenda.'' She said the coalition leader had been given an assurance that the ordinance would be amended in such a way so as not to affect the interests of agriculturists.

To a statement by Union Power Minister Rangarajan Kumaramangalam that he was awaiting a response on the exact objections to the Ordinance, Jayalalitha replied, that all the coalition partners, especially Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, had reservations about the Ordinance.
