Murder case registered
The Umra police have registered a case of murder under section 302 of the IPC after receiving the post mortem reports of a 60-year-old man, who was admitted to the Mission hospital after it was reported that he committed suicide by hanging himself on Saturday. Doctors, after conducting a scientific examination of the body, said that the old man Mangalbhai Somabhai Patel, a resident of Magdalla did not attempt suicide but was murdered by strangulation. The Umra police said on Sunday that interrogations of the family members and suspects had begun.

Fatal accident
One Karsanbhai Ravjibhai, a resident of Udhna area, was killed on the spot on Sunday night after the driver of a tanker, while driving recklessly ran over him near Krishna temple at Udhna Main Road, when the victim was trying to cross the road. The driver of the tanker (MCY 5946) Bansikumar Jaswantlal, a resident of Bhatar Road area of the city, has surrendered himself to the Salabatpura police station. A case under section 304 (a) of the IPC has been registered against the driver by the Salabatpura police and the tanker has been seized.

Body recovered
Fire brigade officials of the city recovered the body of an unidentified 10-year old boy, who's body was found floating in the weir-cum-causeway at Rander. Wireless operator Bhikubhai Patel of the fire services told the Rander police that the dead body had been fished out Monday. The Rander police have registered a case under CrPC 174 and have sent the body to the New Civil hospital for scientific examination.
