UPSC results out, Delhi girl tops among women

NEW DELHI, May 25: Himani Pandey, MSc from Delhi is the highest ranked among the women candidates who cleared the Civil Service examinations, 1997. She is 13 th in the overall list. Devesh Kumar of IIT-Kanpur has topped the exam, the Union Public Service Commission announced today.

Devesh Kumar scored 1462 marks with 63.56 per cent. Nikunj kumar Srivastava (second) and Ritvik Ranjanam Pandey (third) are also from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

The total number of candidates in the list is 621, including 215 from other backward classes, 94 scheduled castes and 46 scheduled tribes categories. There are 63, 10 per cent of the total, female candidates and 558, 89 per cent of the total, male candidates, according to an official release.Of the first 20 candidate in order of merit, 18 are engineers. The lone humanity's candidate among the top 20 is Brijendra Singh, MA from JNU, New Delhi.
