Argentina in semis
Argentina became the first team to enter the semi-finals in the women's World Cup hockey tournament when they scored their fourth straight win in pool B with a 2-1 verdict against New Zealand on Monday.

Australia win
Australia, taking time to warm up, blasted Malaysia 8-0 to all but confirm their progress to the semi-finals from pool B of the men's World Cup hockey tournament on Monday.

Sampras wins
World number-one Pete Sampras, bidding for the only major title which has always eluded him, cruised into the second round of the French Open here today when he defeated fellow American Todd Martin in straight sets.

Indian veterans win
Indian team won their first game in the World Cup hockey tournament for veterans, here on Monday as goals by Zafar Iqbal and Wasir Chand took them past Belgium 2-1. According to reports, goalkeeper Mir Ranjan Negi had an excellent game and he brought off quite a few saves.

Zaidi's inclusion much of the talk on Sunday in the ongoing World Cup hockey tournament here, centred around umpire Irfan Zaidi's handling of the India vs Korea men's league match which the latter won 4-3.
