KOLHAPUR, May 26: Unidentified gunmen shot dead the director of Daulat Shetkari Cooperative sugar factory in Chandgarh taluka of the district last night.According to delayed reports reaching here today, Marooti Sattappa Bandivadekar (47) was woken up by midnight knocks at his home in Naganwadi village and was sprayed with bullets as soon as he opened the door.
Bandivadekar, who received 15 bullet wounds from point blank range, died on the spot.
Police said the shots were fired from a .22 bore pistol and added that they had recovered four empty cartridges. However, police refused to divulge whether the attack was pre-planned or due to some old rivalry.
