Non-teaching staff to protest `misbehaviour'
The non-teaching staff of the M S University will hold a rally in front of University main office on Wednesday morning to protest against the alleged misbehaviour with a woman employee by two student leaders.

According to employees' leaders including Kirti Parikh, Thakorbhai Solanki and Harshad Shah, student leaders Prakash Verma and Kiran Raj misbehaved with a woman employee of the application department, when she asked them to seek the application forms only when their turn came in the queue on Tuesday afternoon. Verma and Raj, they said, broke the queue and demanded application forms out of the way. When she refused, they allegedly misbehaved with her.

B.Ed list out
The Faculty of Education and Psychology, M S University has declared the B.Ed admission list for 1998-99. According to Faculty Dean Professor Sneha Joshi the last date to pay the fees is June 8, 1998, after which admissions would be treated cancelled.

Polytechnic forms
Forms for admission in Polytechnic, M S University will be available from Thursday till June 10 between 11 am and 2 pm on weekdays. The form fee is Rs 40 and students who have cleared class XII board examination (science stream) in March 1998 and October 1997 can apply. The last date to accept the fees is June 10. Outstation students should send the fees through a demand draft, according to an official release.

F Y B.Sc forms
The admission forms for F Y BSc (Home) will be issued after declaration of HSC (General) results, according to Anupama Shah, Dean of the Faculty of Home Science. Meanwhile, application forms for M.Sc (Home), PG Diploma in pre-school Education, PG Diploma in Extension, M.Phil and Ph.D will be issued from June 15 to June 30, except Saturdays and Sundays, between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm.

GEB earns fine
The Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) slapped fine to the tune of Rs 57.14 lakh on power pilferers during checks conducted between May 5 and May 11.

According to an official release, out of 9,133 connections checked in various parts of the State by the vigilance department, 346 power theft and 171 cases of irregularities were detected. In 138 cases the meters were found closed. Power pilferers were fined a sum amounting to Rs 30.67 lakh and those indulged in irregularities, Rs 8.93 lakh.

AITUC strike
The Vadodara District Council of the All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has threatened to go on a hunger strike at the Collectorate on Wednesday to protest against the non-implementation of labour laws. Union secretary Anand Vakani has stated in a press release that the union will undertake the hunger strike as part of a national call.

Dalit rally
Members of the Bharatiya Dalit Panther will take out a rally from Yogini Vasanti Arogya Mandir to the Collectorate on Wednesday to press for their demand to reinstate 108 staffers, who were allegedly sacked en-masse by the hospital management despite being permanent employees. ENS
