The students were protesting against the anti-student attitude of the BJP Government. NSUI president Alka Lamba, while addressing the rally, alleged that the law and order situation in the Delhi University campus had been deteriorating rapidly.

She said: ``Delhi BJP leaders are encouraging anti-social activities and victimising the innocent NSUI activists by levelling wrong charges.''She demanded immediate resignation of Union Home Minister L.K. Advani and withdrawal of all baseless charges against two NSUI members Anil Solanki and Inderjit Shokeen. The NSUI have given a memorandum to Advani in this regard.

Meanwhile, Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress (DPYC) President Kamal Kant Sharma today announced that the DPYC is going to stage a dharna tomorrow at Jantar Mantar in protest against the anti-youth activities of the BJP Government.

The Youth Congress is also threatening to burn effigies of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, polish shoes of passers-by as a mark of protest.

Criticising the recent decision of the Government to increase the retirement age of government employees from 58 years to 60 years, Sharma questioned the need for this step at this time ``when the Government is passing through a financial crunch''.

He alleged that the BJP is trying to win over the Government employees through this move so that it can garner more votes in case of a mid-term poll.
