Maharashtra gets set to tackle drinking water crisis

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
AKOLA, May 29: The State administration is geared up to meet the drinking water crisis in the various parts of the State and efforts are being made to make drinking water available at every village, said the State's Additional Chief Secretary, V Ranganathan. He was addressing a meeting organised here recently to review the progress of water scarcity control works in this district. Ranganathan informed that the Divisional Commissioner had now been given powers to sanction works worth up to Rs 10 lakh to solve the water scarcity problems.

He further said that the municipal councils would be able to solve the water scarcity problem in urban areas temporarily by undertaking measures like deepening of old wells, digging borewells and cleansing of wells.
