Royal Aberdeen rules the roost

MUMBAI, May 31: Favourite Royal Aberdeen trained by C Taraporevala and ridden by KPG Appu lifted the Chief Minister's cup (grade-III), the main event on the 6th day of Bangalore Summer Meeting held on Sunday.

The winner is owned by Dilip Thomas. Trainer Darius Byramji and Z Darashah scored a double each while jockey KPG Appu scored a treble and P Shroff scored a double.

Only two favourites obliged in a card of seven events.

Jockey KPG Appu was fined Rs 5,000 by the stipendary stewards (SS) for repeatedly changing the course between 400 and 300 m in the main event.

Jockey V Naidu's Cruising Away was also fined Rs 3,000 by the SS for not making sufficient effort on his mount in the Baraloy Plate.
