NEW DELHI, May 31: Bihar Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari met Union Home Minister L K Advani today and apprised him of the law and order situation in the state, fuelling speculation about the future of the Rashtriya Janata Dal Government there.During the 30-minute meeting with Advani, Bhandari is believed to have told the Home Minister that the law and order situation in the state required the Centre's attention.
Incidentally, the Samata Party (one of the partners in the coalition government) has been pressing for the imposition of Article 356 in Bihar.
Now, with similar demands for the dismissal of the state governments of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal coming from the AIADMK and Trinamool Congress, the Government is treading cautiously. Particularly as similar demands could also come for Haryana, Rajasthan and Maharashtra -- all states where the BJP fared dismally in the general elections.
Meanwhile in Patna, RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav today dared the Centre to sack the Rabri Devi Government andadded that the people of the state would give a "befitting reply".
