Chief Minister announces three additional consumer fora
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, May 31: Three more consumer redressal fora will start functioning in east, south and south-west Delhi very soon. The Delhi Chief Minister, Sahib Singh Verma, announced this while inaugurating the district level consumer redressal forum at the Barracks in Kasturba Gandhi Marg. The Chief Minister also announced that the State commission for redressal of consumer grievances will soon be shifted to a new building for better functioning. He urged the citizens to register any consumer-related complaint with these fora in large numbers. There are over 5,000 cases pending in the four district level consumer courts in Delhi. But things are likely to brighten up a bit when the new consumer courts will start work after notification. A large number of disputes relating to water, electricity, telephone and other civic amenities are pending in these areas, which will now be settled by the new courts. The pressure of yet-to-be decided redressal cases is so high that the move to add new consumer courts became essential. On this occasion, the Consumer Federation of India (CFI) brought out a booklet on `How to file a legal case in a consumer forum'. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
