RJD working committee member Kamalnath Singh Thakur today faxed a message to the Election Commission of India asking it to stop the Governor from indulging in party and electoral politics. "Bhandari's public statement was aimed at sabotaging RJD's chances and bolstering the BJP-Samata prospects for by-elections to the seven assembly seats in the state on June 3," he alleged.

Thakur later told The Indian Express that he had no objection to the Governor sending a confidential and routine report to the Union Home Ministry. "But he has no business getting into party politics. If he is so keen to continue in his party, he should quit the constitutional post and take up the party position which he held a month ago," Thakur added.
