No examination of Jet Airways plane abroad, says DGCA

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, June 3: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has said that no part of the Jet Airways Boeing 737-500 aircraft which shot off the runway at Mumbai airport on Saturday last would be allowed to be taken abroad for examination. The arrival of a team of engineers to examine the aircraft had raised speculations that some crucial parts of the aircraft would be sent abroad for examination.

``The DGCA will not allow any part of the aircraft be sent abroad before the issue is investigated by us,'' said Director of Airworthiness, P K Chattopadhayay. But investigations are progressing at a snail's pace.

Director of Air Safety Subhash Chandra said the inquiry is in its preliminary stage. ``I have not yet questioned the cabin crew and the pilot, but the issue will be given priority,'' Chandra said.
