PANAJI, JUNE 3: Goa Power Minister Mauvin Goudinho has said the government's power generation policy would encourage the setting up of captive generation plants in the state to facilitate industrial consumers and would also reduce the load on state grid.In the white paper on power situation in the state submitted here recently, Goudinho pointed out that the new plants would also benefit upcoming industries in the state thereby improving the power availability and quality of the rest of the consumers. Despite innumerable power problems, the minister said, the power department was confident of overcoming these bottlenecks and difficulties.
In August 1998 the commissioning of the cabinet cycle plant at Sancoale in the open cycle would ensure quality power to Marmagoa taluka, he stated. The rest of the state, he said, would also be benefited due to the resultant reduction of load on Ponda and the consequent improvement of power availability and quality.
Goudinho said the commissioning of the 110/33 KVKadamba sub-station, would now be taken up departmentally, which would improve the voltage and availability to the whole Tiswadi taluka including Panaji.
If additional funds and manpower was made available, Goudinho said the department would also be able to complete the critical pending transmission and distribution works and also initiate the additional infrastructure works needed to meet the situation.
