P-5 rap on Kashmir makes Govt cautious
In the face of the threat to internationalise the Kashmir dispute issued last night in Geneva by the foreign ministers of the five nuclear states, India has proclaimed its readiness to offer concessions that included the "strictest control" on the export of nuclear material and technology. The statement of compromise came almost 24 hours after the Geneva communique, the delay pointing to the absolute confusion in the Government as it struggled to put together a coherent reaction to the admonitory tone adopted by the permanent-five.

Come clean on mineral water, Kant tells Govt
Rajya Sabha chairman Krishan Kant has directed the government to come to the House prepared with the relevant facts on bottled mineral water being sold in the country. The chairman gave the direction after a number of members pointed out that tap water or polluted water was being sold as mineral water. The chairman said water was a basic necessity and the government "should come to the House prepared" when the question was raised next.

FIR against Godinho over rebate scandal
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the Goa police has begun questioning senior government officials on the power rebate scandal. It has also taken possession of the file on the scheme to grant rebate in power tariffs to industries as investigations continue on a police complaint filed by Bharatiya Janata party MLA Manohar Parrikar.
