Neelam had earlier attained the qualifying mark for the Asian Track and Field Meet at last week's circuit meet at Nagercoil.

Here at the second meet, Neelam threw the discus to a distance of 57.94m, where as the earlier record stood at 55.72m. Though she had got the gold at the first circuit meet with a distance of 54.24m, she has improved in a big way and there is a ray of hope for the Asian Track and Field to be held at Fukuoka, Japan from July 19-22.

Apart from these performances, the meet hit a low turnout but compared to first meet the number of athletes touched the three digit figures. This meet is the second for the campers an the next will be at Hyderabad starting on June 20.

Usha came second in the 400m with a timing of 53.88s butbettered her last meet timing of 54.99s. Jyothimoy Sikdar clocked 53.60 and won the gold in the event.

Sikdar, scored a double in 800m and 400m, becoming the only athlete to win a double in both the circuits so far.

Lijo David bagged the gold in 400m clocking 47.42s followed by Dinesh Rawat 47.7os. David had finished second at Nagercoil.
