Rain continues to elude city

SURAT, June 10: While almost all the talukas of the district received moderate rainfall on Tuesday, the second day of the monsoon season, the city was dry, with no rain reported throughout the day in any part.

Many areas of Rander and Adajan continued to be without electricity on Wednesday, more than 48 hours after supply was cut off, but electricity supply was restored by the GEB in some areas today. While the Kamrej taluka of the district received the maximum rainfall (35 mm) Palsana, Bardoli, Mahuva and Mangrol talukas of the district received only 2 mm each. Uchhal taluka received 6 mm, Nizar 19 mm, Songadh 14 mm, Vyara 30 mm, Olpad 14 mm and Choryasi taluka received 11 mm of rainfall.Showers have been forecast in the city and district during the next 24 hours, these are likely to be mild. No gusty winds are predicted for Friday.
