Fake policemen loot businessman

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, June 10: Three men, posing as policemen, robbed a city businessman of Rs 30,000 in cash in broad daylight on Tuesday, and escaped the police said.

When the complaint, Hasmukh Veljibhai Kakadia, a businessman of the city, was standing near Lal Darwaja cross roads today with a bag containing six bundles of Rs 100 notes, he was approached by a 30-year-old man who informed him that policemen ahead on the street were checking people's belongings.

Immediately after he left, two other men, aged about 25, in the garb of policemen approached Kakadia and demanded to know what he was carrying and began checking his bag.

But after the two men left Kakadia realised that three bundles of Rs 100 were missing from his bag.

Kakadia then rushed to the Mahidharpura police and complained that he was duped by the three unidentified impostors.

The police have filed cases under sections 170, 419 and 114 of the IPC and PSI D V Gamit is investigating the case.
