Death of PSEB employee leads to 12 hr power cut

KHARAR, June 10: Following the death of a workcharge employee of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB), the power supply to the township remained suspended for 12 hours continuously from 8 a.m. onwards.The deceased, Ram Karan (40), sustained serious head injuries when he fell off a pole on which he was doing some maintenance work near the PSEB office at Bus Stand chowk, this afternoon. He was immediately rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he was declared dead. Immediately after the incident, the PSEB employees stopped the maintenance work and it was resumed at about 6 p.m. only after an assurance was given by PSEB authorities that the family of the deceased would be suitably compensated.
