Sports Club, Kumaon win

CHANDIGARH, June 10: Ravi (29 n.o.) and Prabhjot (25 n.o.) enabled Sports Club Kumaon beat Sports Club, Panchkula by six wickets in the Uttrakhand Trophy cricket tournament at Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 23 here today.

Sports Club, Panchkula won the toss and elected to bat. The team could manage only 106 in the allotted 25 overs. Sarvjeet's 33 runs came to a naught when the other batsmen failed to keep at the crease. Umesh and Dewan also added 10 runs each to the team's total.

Karanvir was the main wrecker for Kumaon's team. He took four wickets in five overs while Manoj got two wickets.

In reply Sports Club, Kumaon got the winning total in 21 overs. Ravi (29 not out) and Prabhjot (25 not out) mainly contributed to the team's victory.

However, another match between DYFI XI and Royal Cricket Club, Mohali was abandoned due to inclement weather condition. DYFI XI got 161 in their innings for the loss of seven wickets. However, the match came to a halt when Royal CC were 86 in the 11th over.

The third match of the day between ICC and Youth Cricket Club, Dera Bassi was also postponed.

Kunal, Anu for camp
Kunal AND Anu Deora of Chandigarh are amongst the 48 probables including 24 in the women's section shotlisted by Handball Federation of India (HFI) for the Second South Asian Handball Championship to be held at Dhaka from July 20 to 26.

The men's camp will be held at NIS, Patiala from July 15 to 17 while the venue for the women's camp is Salt Lake, Calcutta on the same dates.

Advance course
Indian Amateur Taekwondo Federation (IATF) is organising an advance training camp in taekwondo in July at Delhi. According to a press release, in the 20-day camp, besides the black belt examination, diploma courses for referees and instructors would also be conducted.

The camp would be supervised by Park Castillo of Korea and Ravi Kalra, president, IATF.

Gymnastic team
The Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) has selected gymnasts in the boys and girls sections to represent the country in the World Youth Games to be held at Moscow from July 11 to 19. According to a press release of GFI, the selection trials were held at Allahabad. The boys team comprises of Vikas Pandey, Abhishek Dixit, Mayank Srivastav, Gaurav Shah and Abhina Dixit (reserve). All the members of the teams are from Uttar Pradesh.

The girls team consists of Tumpa Debnath and Subhra Sarkar (West Bengal), Anuradha (Maharashtra). Amandeep and Samitra of Punjab are stand-bye.Khussanzhan Kurbanon and Sephali Moulik would be the coaches for the boys and girls teams respectively.
