Amit was reportedly taking revenge on his sister. She had allegedly abused him for not taking his studies seriously. According to her, Amit had threatened to teach her a lesson.

Meenakshi along with her daughter Mugdha had come over to her father's house in Delhi Cantt today. At 10 a.m, Amit reportedly took the child out. When he did not return, Meenakshi informed the police. The police traced Amit and arrested him this afternoon. On interrogation, he revealed that he had stabbed and dumped the child in a park in south-west Delhi. The child was in a critical state when she was found and was rushed to hospital where her condition is improving.
