No Pak tilt, just healthy inclination for J&K: US
Angrily denying that there was any American tilt towards Islamabad, US Assistant Secretary of State Rick Inderfurth said the Kashmir dispute was an international reality that could not be wished away and called on India and Pakistan to address the matter bilaterally. He further commented that there was no tilt in their policy.

Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee yesterday wondered why the Opposition was raking up the Ayodhya issue when the Bharatiya Janata Party had dropped it altogether from its national agenda. Making a veiled criticism of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vajpayee admitted that for some of his party members and associated organisations time had stood still since December 6, 1992 (the day the Babri Masjid was brought down).

Govt not to fund AI, IA restructuring
The Minister of Civil Aviation Ananth Kumar has given a three-week deadline to the managing directors of both the national carrier, Indian Airlines and Air India to come forward with a restructuring package.
