Kathak Kendra bent on retaining guru Birju Maharaj, but...
The Kathak Kendra is now bending backwards to accomodate Birju Maharaj in a special capacity, following criticism over imposition of the government's retirement rules on the legendary performing artiste. Jayant Kastuar, director, Kathak Kendra, and deputy secretary (dance), Sangeet Natak Akademi said, ``His retirement will not be a conventional one.

Some clues to win police awards
For Mumbai police force, its reputation battered by increasing shoot-outs, flagrant escapes and jewellery heists, tomorrow brings a bit of much needed cheer: In a function at the Police Club, deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde will felicitate eleven police officers and award the best police station in town.
