Women's quota, Lok Pal bills face rough weather

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, June 13: Efforts of the BJP-led Government to introduce the Lok Pal and the Women's Reservation Bills have run into trouble with some political parties opposing some of their clauses.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana said "some former prime ministers" wanted the Government to keep the PMO out of the ambit of the Lok Pal in the interest of parliamentary democracy. ``There is another suggestion. Some opposition members felt that a case against a Prime Minister should be routed to the Lok Pal through a panel of three Supreme Court judges,'' he pointed out. But, he said, the BJP was committed to introducing the Bill as it was a part of its election manifesto.
