Pull out of BJP Govt, Swamy tells Jaya

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHENNAI, June 13: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Saturday asked former Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary J Jayalalitha to withdraw support to the BJP-led Government at the Centre.

Addressing mediapersons, Swamy said he met Jayalalitha at her Poes Garden residence in the morning and, as a member of the front led by her, impressed upon her the need to withdraw support.

When asked about Jayalalitha's reaction, he said she was also thinking on the same lines. ``I can't divulge the details'', he said. ``Quicker the better'', he replied when asked how soon the AIADMK would withdraw support to the Vajpayee Government.

Swamy said the BJP's leadership was ``a major disaster'' for the country. The Kashmir issue had been internationalised due to nuclear tests conducted by the BJP, he said. The G-8 (including Russia and France on whom India was banking) had unanimously resolved to stop all loans to India, causing further cut back of Rs 10,000 crorein budgetary resources. India's three adversaries of the past -- US, China and Pakistan -- have grouped against the country. They are threatening India's security from the North across the mountains and from the South via the Indian Ocean, he said.

The BJP's Budget had confused people and brought down the nation's credit rating. Above all, the decision-making had shifted from the PMO to the RSS headquarters, Swamy said.

Jaya to call on Advani

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalitha will leave for New Delhi on June 18 following an invitation from Union Home Minister L K Advani for a discussion on the AIADMK's demand for the dismissal of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu. According to AIADMK sources, Jayalalitha will meet Advani on June 19.
