CHENNAI, June 13: Indian cricket manager Anshuman Gaekwad said his team has worked out a strategy to curb the exploits of Ceat International Cricketer of the Year 1997-98, Sanath Jayasuriya, in the first 15 overs. However, he did not spell out the strategy.Gaekwad and the team were in full strength at MA Chidambaram Stadium, where the three-day preparatory camp for the Sri Lanka Independence Cup began on Saturday.
Gaekwad expressed confidence in the team's ability to come up with a good show in Sri Lanka. ``We will continue our winning streak in Lanka,'' he declared. He said the boys need to improve on their physical fitness and looked forward to work on that aspect during the camp. He showed his displeasure over the schedule as Sri Lanka is experiencing rains at this time of the year. As the series includes day-night matches, he hoped that his team would get an opportunity for a workout under lights during the camp.
On the team's preparation for the World Cup 1999, the former Indian opener cautionedthat it is a year away and that ``we will take every tournament seriously.''
