A solution continued to evade the PDF decision to reconsider promised support to the Congress for the June 18 biennial Rajya Sabha and Council election as a high-level meeting to be held between Sharad Pawar and Janata Dal leaders was adjourned since JD General Secretary Bapu Kaldate was unable to reach the city.

BJP gets even with Sena on surplus votes
The cold war between the Shiv Sena and BJP has taken a new turn following Deputy CM Gopinath Munde's statement that a decision on BJP's surplus votes for the Rajya Sabha polls will be taken on June 17. Since BJP has only fielded Pramod Mahajan, it has more than 20 surplus votes and had earlier agreed to allot them to a Sena candidate.

Pull out of BJP Govt, Swamy tells Jaya
Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Saturday asked former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary J Jayalalitha to withdraw support to the BJP-led Government at the Centre. Swamy said the BJP's leadership was "a major disaster" for the country.
