Khalsa B emerge champions

MUMBAI, June 14: Khalsa Gymkhana B defeated Carmel Friends 3-0 in the final of the knock-out Open Women's Hockey Tournament, organised by the Bombay Women's Hockey Association, at the Khalsa College ground, Matunga, today.

Deepa Churi of Khalsa converted a penalty-corner and Aleshaya Shetty made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute with a beautiful field goal. Melonie D'Souza scored from a penalty-corner to round-off the tally.

Earlier in the Hardlines match, St Andrew's College beat Khalsa A 5-4 via the tie-breaker.

Easy for Fr Agnel

Fr Agnel, a promoted side, trounced Maharashtra State Police 3-0 in the WIFA Senior Division Football League at the Cooperage ground, today.

Terence Thomas opened the account in the 22nd minute. Sebastiao Endro increased the lead in the 31st minute and Agnelo Gomes rounded-off the tally in the 60th minute.

Earlier in the First Division League, Catholic Gymkhana drubbed Navi Mumbai 3-0. Brett Duarte, Kyle Duarte and Keith Fernandes were the goal-getters.At the Goan SportsAssociation ground, Cross maidan, a lone goal by Luciano D'Souza turned out to be the match-winner for Rizvi against Goan Sports Club.

In the Second Division League, Milan Sports Club scored a comfortable 2-0 victory over Tarun Sanga. Ansari Yaqoob and Ansari Tariq Jr. were the goal-getters.

Ceasar nets winner

Personnel Search Services ousted Borivli Rangers 1-0 in a first-round match of the Guru Nanak Football Tournament, organised by the MDFA, at the St Xavier's ground, Parel, today.

The all-important goal came in the 47th minute when a pass from Nicholas Gomes was neatly placed home by Ceasar Fernandes past Borivli Rangers goalkeeper Alton Moaraes.
