Braveheart: Gun-toting man scares dacoits off

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, June 14: A dacoity bid at a house in Magarpatta near Hadapsar yesterday morning was foiled when the house owner, Hanumanta Kapare, scared off the culprits by firing in the air.

The incident came to light when a panicky neighbour telephoned the police control room. A posse of policemen, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandrakant Ughade and Inspector Pravin Kole, cordoned off the entire area for nearly an hour and launched a search operation. However, the culprits could not be traced.

According to police, Kapare was alerted by his watchman's cry for help. He fired two shots in the air with his 12 bore rifle, thus scaring the dacoits.
