NEW DELHI, JUNE 14: Political parties and politicians are indulging in unauthorised construction in bungalows in Lutyens Zone of the capital violating laws they themselves have legislated.Those who made unauthorised construction in bungalows allotted to them include BJP office, Union ministers Murli Manohar Joshi, Satya Narayan Jatiya, Nitish Kumar, Dalit Ezhilmalai, Dileep Roy and K Purukayastha, Minister of State for Urban Affairs and Employment Bandaru Dattatrey has informed Lok Sabha.
Other VVIPs who have made constructions in bungalows were former president Shanker Dayal Sharma, former Kerala chief minister K Karunakaran, Congress leader Sharad Pawar, Janata Dal's Ramvilas Paswan, former Union minister Madhav Rao Scindia and Priyanka Gandhi.
The Minister said no additional construction has been made by the Ministry in bungalows situated in Lutyen's Zone in violation of the guidelines approved by the Prime Minister's office in 1996.
He said though action has been started by Central Public WorksDepartment (CPWD)/Directorate of Estates as per rules, no demolition has been carried out so far.
He said in all eight ex-ministers and ministers, 11 members of Parliament and four others have constructed additional structures in their accommodation without involving CPWD.
Karunakaran has made a swimming pool in the bungalow allotted to him in an area of around 50 sq metres and also an attached room of 24 sq metres, the Minister said. Giving details of other unauthorised constructions made in the bungalows, Dattatrey said while BJP office has constructed a room, Joshi has constructed three rooms in the back lawn and Ezhilmalai and Jatiya have both constructed two-room office blocks.
Nitish Kumar has constructed one big room in front lawn and a small room in the office block, Ray has extended his dining room, while Purkayastha added three rooms to the office block, he said.
Madhav Rao Scindia, in his canning road official residence, added three rooms and a car shed without taking permission, whileSharad Pawar, MS Bitta and Raj Babbar constructed a room each.
Former president Shanker Dayal Sharma constructed additional rooms in his Safdarjung Road residence.
In the Lodhi Estate house allotted to Priyanka Gandhi due to security reasons after her marriage, Special Protection Group (SPG) has constructed a rest room without permission, the Minister said.
