GEB seeks aid from State, Centre

VADODARA, June 14: With restoration works in full-swing, the Gujarat Electricity Board resumed supplying power to Anjar town in Kutch on Sunday morning.

The Board had sought financial assistance from the State Government, Member (Administration) S K Nanda told Express Newsline, adding that the Board had suffered an estimated loss of Rs 313 crore, excluding expected revenue losses of Rs 200 crore, because of the damages to transmission towers and lines.

Meanwhile, a team of officers from the Rural Electric Corporation (REC) met senior GEB officers to learn what the Board needed.

Nanda said while the REC had sounded out the Board on long-term loans, what the GEB needed were grants.
