VADODARA, June 14: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has ordered all commercial complexes and high-rise buildings to demolish structures obstructing easy parking of vehicles in the vicinity.In a public notice, they have been warned that the Vadodara Municipal Corporation would swing into action and collect recovery charges from them if the obstructions were not removed.
Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria has said that in several shopping centres, high-rise buildings and offices, owners or the developers were found to have constructed structures which obstructed easy access for parking. He said the ramps and staircases should be constructed in such a manner that could facilitate instant parking in the front portion of the building.
The civic chief has also instructed that henceforth any housing society intending approach from nearby society should have the sale deed of the approach road in its name. Meanwhile, following warning by the VMC, shopkeepers, larrigalla owners, cabinholders and other people have started removing extensions blocking the footpaths and pavements.
In a notice issued recently the VMC had asked them to clear the extensions within two days or face the consequences. According to the VMC, it has cancelled licenses of the extensions since April 1, 1993. Apart from it, signboards put up on the shops and cabins without the permission of the Corporation was also illegal, it was stated.
Shopkeepers of Mangal Bazaar, Mandvi and nearby areas are among those who have volunteered to remove the signboards and extensions.
