NEW DELHI, June 14: An Udyog Sadan is being set up by the Delhi State Industrial Development Corporation (DSIDC) and the Union Industry Ministry for single window service to ease the problems of entrepreneurs in getting clearances from various Delhi government departments.Laying the foundation stone of `Udyog Sadan', industry minister Sikander Bakht said that the sadan, which will house the Delhi Industry Minister's office-cum-secretariat, the Commissioner of Industries, Delhi State Industrial Development Corporation (DSIDC), Delhi Financial Corporation (DFC) and the Delhi Khadi Village Industries Board (DKVIB), has been designed to ease the problems of entrepreneurs in getting clearances from various Delhi government departments.
Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, Delhi's Industry Minister Harsharan Singh Balli, DSIDC chairman Sudarshan Sareen and Managing Director R. Chandra Mohan were present on the occasion. Bakht said the present system of licensing and registration left the consumers exhausted. The BJP-led government, he said, was committed to abolishing inspector raj and license raj from the country. Taking a cue from the efforts of the government, Bakht said he would try to set up a similar structure for the Union Industry Ministry. ``The single window clearance will save a lot of time both for us and for the industrialists,'' he admitted. The industries department would spend Rs 12 crore on the construction and beautification of the sadan. The DSIDC has been entrusted with the construction work.
Besides office space, the Udyog Sadan would have four conference rooms, board room, library and a multi-purpose hall for seminars and exhibitions. Speaking on the occasion, Verma said that considering the problems and difficulties faced by the entrepreneurs and industrial units, it was decided by the Delhi government that all the offices relating to industries should be housed at one place.
Harsharan Singh Balli said the project is expected to be completed within two years. ``Keeping in mind the strength of the staff of all the five departments to be housed here, the complex has been designed to create an environment which would promise a decent and productive working atmosphere for the staff and the executives,'' he added. The DSIDC exhibited some models of various industrial units set up by them in coordination with the government.
