According to a press release issued by the Samwasi Forum, 10 students were admitted to the Bara Hindu Rao hospital by the police today. The condition of one of them has been stated to be serious. The students who are sitting on a hunger strike in front of the old secretariat have been protesting against the orders of the social welfare department of the Delhi Government asking them to vacate the home by June 15. The President of the forum has said that despite so many students being taken ill the social welfare department remains adamant. He said the orphans don't have any source of livelihood and won't have a place to stay once they vacate the home. The release stated that the newly elected Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Sheila Dikshit has written a letter to the L-G and the Chief Minister requesting them to have a sympathetic approach towards the students and solve their problems.
