MUMBAI, June 16: The brilliance exhibited by Simon D'Souza, Dadar XI B striker fetched them important three point as they won 3-2 against Colaba Young Stars (CYS) in a Gulf Lubricants WIFA Senior Division League match here at the Cooperage today.Despite suffering from a knee injury, D'Souza netted a brace and laid down a brilliant pass for the third.
Dadar XI took lead in the 16th minute when D'Souza on a forward pass off Francis Fernandes dribbled past Edwine Fonseca, CYS goalkeeper and bulged the net on second attempt.
CYS shot back two minutes later. Striker Hamsa CK netted from close range as his fellow striker Ajit Kokate failed to get past the Dadar 'keeper Nasir Sheikh.
Dadar XI took lead again in the 31st minute when the lanky D'Souza surpassed defender Ramesh Delekar and sent a low cross for the onrushing Sylvestor Dickson on the goalmouth who thumped the ball in.
Dadar XI increased the lead in the 38th minute, when mid-fielder Dickson laid a ball for D'Souza right on the top of box.D'Souza's powerful strike went straight in the right corner of the wood work.
Five minutes later, CYS team brought back one through a marvelous 30 yards shot by Aloysius Vaz. He received a ball near the centre line on the left flank, he made space for his shot and then sent a thundering pile-driver in the Dadar's goal. At half-time, the score was reading 3-2. And Dadar held the young side from South Bombay to win the second match of the first leg.
