Tata Chemicals to pay 65%

ENS ECONOMIC BUREAU  
MUMBAI, June 18: Tata Chemicals has fared well during the year ended March 1998. The net profit has risen by 14.36 per cent to Rs 288.55 crore from Rs 252.32 crore last year. The directors, however, have maintained the dividend at 65 per cent absorbing Rs 117.42 crore (same) and a sum of Rs 11.74 crore (same) has been provided for tax on dividend.

During the year, the total income amounted to Rs 1661.50 crore against Rs 1628.13 crore last year, an increase of 2.05 per cent. The company has earned a higher gross profit of Rs 447.18 crore against Rs 404.41 crore last year, an increase of 10.58 per cent.
