India 14th

CALCUTTA: India were dismally placed at the 14th position with a score of 238 after the opening round of the World Junior Golf Championship at Hyogo, Japan, according to information received here.

England were leading with a score of 208 on the inaugural day while hosts Japan were at the second place with 212. Argentina (217) were five points behind Japan to grab the third spot.

SA struggle

LONDON: South Africa were 52 for four at tea on the first day of the second Test against England at Lord's today.

Earlier, England paceman Dominic Cork struck two early blows before rain stopped play. After a delayed start because of overnight rain, there was time for only six and a half overs in which South Africa made 21 for two after they were put in to bat.

Rain then drove the players off, with Adam Bacher unbeaten on 13 and Daryll Cullinan on four.
