CHANIDGARH, June 18: The Chandigarh Olympic Association (COA) in collaboration with the Chandigarh Sports Counicl (CSC) would be organising sports festival and coaching camps in selected discipline to prepare the Chandigarh teams for the forthcoming Manipur National Games. This decision was taken in the general body meeting of the CSC held recently.According to a press release, COA has asked all the associations to finalise the names of the participants along with coaches and managers who would accompany the teams. The final list should reach KS Sahota, secretary, COA, latest by June 30.
The COA would be sponsoring the Chandigarh contingent.
It may be recalled that the Chandigarh contingent faired badly in the last National Games held at Bangalore.
However, COA is hoping to improve upon their medal standing during the Manipur Games.
Army dominate
Army shooters dominated the inaugural Clay Piegons Trap Shooting championship organised by the Ludhiana District Shooting Association here. Col Ravi Sandhu won the competition while D S Gill finished second. The third slot was bagged by Wing Commander Karnail Bhatia.
The team championship was won by Ludhiana, represented by N S Bhogal, Parminder and J S Garcha.
Ravi K S Sidhu, secretary Punjab Rifle Shooting Association, distributed the prizes.
