Sursagar now a prohibited zone The Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Thursday issued a notification declaring the Sursagar lake as a prohibited zone with immediate effect. The police had issued a similar notice under the Bombay Police Act, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Administration) H S Patel told Express Newsline. The declaration prohibits fishing, washing and parking vehicles near the lake.Two arrested The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Vadodara Division on Thursday arrested two people for stealing railway property from Godhra and Bharuch. Both culprits was caught red-handed stealing sleepers from unmanned godowns in the two areas. RPF Divisional Security Commissioner M Khursheeed said that though the thieves were not Western Railway staffers, they had admitted to the involvement of WR officials in the reported theft of railway property. He added that patrolling of the RPF had been intensified in the two areas following the developments. NTPC donation National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has contributed an amount of Rs 75 lakh (Rs 50 lakh for Gujarat and Rs 25 lakh for Rajasthan) for the relief measures being undertaken in cyclone-hit areas of Kutch and Saurashtra.
