Rs 1400-crore plan for roads in Punjab

ROOPNAGAR, June 18: The Punjab Government is ready with its project report for widening and strengthening of state highways under an ambitious Rs. 1,400-crore scheme.Disclosing this here yesterday, PWD Minister and District Planning Board chaiman Harmel Singh Tohra said the funds would be raised through HUDCO adding that the first installment of Rs. 600 crore would be released shortly after the submission of the report. Tohra, who was here to take stock of the condition of the link roads to Himachal Pradesh said, the proposed railway over-bridges at Dera Bassi and Sirhind would be completed by March 31 next year and these bridges would be raised under the Built Operate Transfer Scheme with an investment of at least Rs. 30 crore each.
