Government milk distributors to get more commission

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, June 23: The State Government today increased the commission paid to distributors of government milk by 12 paise per litre. This increase will not affect the milk prices in any way, but will put a burden of Rs 25 lakh on the State exchequer annually.

Over 3,500 distributors sell about 13 hundred thousand litres of milk and allied products everyday. In Mumbai alone, six hundred thousand liters of cow milk and one hundred thousand litres of Aarey special milk is sold everyday. A distributor selling cow milk, priced at Rs 11 per litre, will get 37 paise commission instead of 30, and get 60 paise instead of 48 for selling Aarey special milk priced at Rs 14 per litre.
