TUNIS: Tunisia soccer officials said today they had sacked World Cup coach Henry Kasperczak after Tunisia's squad failed to qualify for the second round. The Tunisian Football Federation said deputy coach Ali Selmi would replace him temporarily for Tunisia's last Group G match against Romania on Friday.Kasperczak came under strong fire for the squad's poor results when it was beaten 2-0 by England and 1-0 by Colombia.
The strongest attack came from Slim Chiboub, the powerful president of Tunisia's first division champions Esperance.
Chiboub accused Kasperczak of spoiling Tunisian football reputation and of being the cause of the squad's poor performances in the World Cup.
``(Kasperczak) mocked us and did wrong to the country that welcomed him with his ugly words to a country which respected him,'' Chiboub told Canal Plus Horizons channel. ``I call on officials to study the soccer file and set it right once for all,'' Slim Chiboub said.
